My initial inspiration for my Happy Hour work was my love of rock posters. I've always been a fan of poster design superstars like Aesthetic Apparatus, Art Chantry, The Little Friends of Printmaking, Miss Amy Jo, Eye Noise, Print Mafia and Methane Studios. Looking for a holiday present for someone you know who appreciates rock and art stuff? Check out 1975's shop site for prints from my show. Or if you're shopping for me, I'd like one or all of the above posters. Thanks, you're the best!

Fall so far

Highlights from the fall so far: clockwise from upper right-images from the Bostonia Collectives show at the Lincoln Arts Project, the best pizza in the world from Pontillos, cupcakes from my Happy Hour opening, people at the Happy Hour opening in Rochester, a note found on the street, my dad's killer apple pie.

I'm so excited. Many, many thanks to the good people at Surface Salon, 1975 and everyone else who has helped make this possible.

White Russian

I'm in the final week of getting things ready for my Happy Hour show at 1975 in sweet, sweet Rochester NY. The show opens on Nov. 12th and will be up 'til Jan. 28th. You should so totally come. Here's my l'il White Russian piece for the show-it'll be in good cocktail company with a mint julep, a mai tai and another mystery drink.

Happy Hour Posters 1

Here's a couple of my posters for the "Happy Hour" show I'm having at 1975 in Ra Cha Cha this fall. Concentrating on making things in the style of show fliers and cocktail/alcohol themed pieces. I'm really excited to see everything coming together! Also, speaking of Rochester, I went to the grand opening of the Northborough Wegmans today and it was insane. I think I bought some groceries, but really can't be sure.

BY THE PALE MOONLIGHT
Ghosts, Ghouls, and other Creatures of the Night

1975 x Surface Salon’s Three Year Anniversary show.
October 8 – November 5, 2011
Opening Night: Saturday, October 8, 2011, from 7-10pm

It’s been three AWESOME years since 1975 and Surface first partnered up, and we can’t just contain the party to the old space. We’re going to kick off our next year by welcoming a new art space into our family, and this one is a doozy!

To make it even more special, we’ve reached out to an INCREDIBLE roster of talented artists to help us make this show even more memorable than our other shows.

The show will be on the third floor above Flour City Bakery, in Rochester’s brand new art space (whose name will be revealed that night), located in the Rochester Public Market, 280 Union St. North, Rochester, NY 14609.

Solo show at 1975 in November!

I'm so happy and honored to be the first solo show at 1975/Surface Salon's new space in November! Even though I've lived in Boston for the past 6+ years, I always love going back home to visit Rochester and in November I'll be bringing a boatload of new art with me! This group of work is inspired by my love of going to shows, the perfectly mixed cocktail, and my graphic design heroes. Big thank yous to Erich for being such a awesome person to work with and to my friends and family for fielding endless art related opinion questions. You're the tops! Irony alert: in Boston and Cambridge, having "happy hour" or drink specials in a bar or restaurant is ILLEGAL. Thank you very little, pilgrims.

Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series

Thanks again to everyone who came by Barlow's last night for the Bombay Sapphire live painting! I had a great time and am adding the finishing touches on my piece today. My painting will be on view at Barlow's once it's done and there's going to be a show of all of the Boston artists who participated in the live painting events at the Mills Gallery from Sept. 17th-Oct. 2nd. You can see more pics from last nights event on The Weekly Dig's flickr page. Many thanks to the Barlow's staff, Kat Hall, The Weekly Dig and the awesome Scott Murry.

Tonight I'll be at Barlow's doing a live painting event sponsored by The Weekly Dig and Bombay Sapphire. Come say hi between 7-9pm. Also if you're in Boston, pick up a copy of The Dig-two of my pieces are on the cover. A big thank you to Scott Murry for hooking me up with both of these opportunities.

Forever 21 Frames

Who would've guessed that the store all girls have a love/hate relationship would ever add cute, quasi-Parisian frames to their line up of cheapee clothing and accessories? I found these frames at Forever 21 months ago and they now are both filled with art. Finished up the blue haired girl today!

Betty Crocker Recipe Cards

I spent a couple of days last week on the Cape with my parents. Did I kayak? I did. Did I lounge about? Yes. My mom and I also went to some pretty sweet thrift shops and I found a full set of the Betty Crocker Recipe Card Library. If you think you can live a happy life without access to this set let me ask you this: what do you do when you need to pack a lunch for your "Happy Traveler Sing-a-long"? I bet it wouldn't occur to you to put a bunch of donuts and munchkins in a wicker basket for the trip. Or maybe you're wondering what men like to eat-do you have a handy section in your other cookbooks called "Men's Favorites"? I bet you don't. It also probably wouldn't occur to you to serve fishsticks for breakfast. Just saying.

Hull hull hull

This will go down in history as the summer I was forced to relax. Ate delicious food, drank novelty drinks, went to the beach, and discovered the arcade at Nantasket beach.
